ORNAMENTAL FEATURES

Purple Diamond Fringe flower features showy pink spider-like flowers held atop the branches in mid spring. It has attractive deep purple foliage which emerges burgundy in spring. The oval leaves are highly ornamental and remain deep purple throughout the winter.

PLANTING & GROWING

Purple Diamond Fringe flower will grow to be about 5 feet tall at maturity, with a spread of 5 feet. It has a low canopy, and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a fast rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 40 years or more. It does best in average to evenly moist conditions, but will not tolerate standing water. It is particular about its soil conditions, with a strong preference for rich, acidic soils. It is somewhat tolerant of urban pollution. Consider applying a thick mulch around the root zone in winter to protect it in exposed locations or colder micro climates.
