This elegant shrub or small tree is ideal as a foundation shrub, garden accent, or courtyard tree; great for urban planting along streets and medians; excellent as a screen or sheared hedge because of its dense, long lived foliage
Growth: Meta Japanese Yew will grow to be about 10 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide at maturity, with a spread of 5 feet. It has a low canopy and is suitable for planting under power lines. It grows at a slow rate, and under ideal conditions can be expected to live for 50 years or more. It grows better in rich acidic, moist, well drained, fertile soils and its not tolerant to wet soils.
Flowering: Meta Japanese Yew has attractive dark green foliage which emerges light green in spring. The glossy narrow leaves are highly ornamental and remain dark green throughout the winter. Neither the flowers nor the fruit are ornamentally significant.
Water: Though this plant is drought-tolerant once established, it's best to water on a regular basis with time between waterings for the plant to dry out a bit. Fertilize 3 times a year - in spring, summer, and autumn - with a top quality granular fertilizer.
Pruning: It can be kept smaller through regular pruning, adapts well to any pruning and it can sculpted to any shape.
